October 2026 · values from the manufacturer and a third-party test, read 7 October 2026

The FREEM SIM21 is the second-lightest sim racing glove with a published weight: 32 g per pair (1.1 oz), one gram behind the GCOM SRG1. It also offers the widest size range in this comparison — eight sizes from 2XS to 3XL — and a grip fabric called L-Grip that covers the entire palm rather than sitting in zones or printed patches.

FREEM is an Italian motorsport brand; the SIM21 is its sim-specific model, at US$60.

What stands out

32 g per pair. Only the GCOM SRG1 publishes a lower figure, at 31 g. Both sit well under the roughly 40 g mark where a glove stops registering as a layer between palm and rim. See lightest sim racing gloves.

Grip across the whole palm. Most gloves place grip where the designers expect your hand to sit: silicone dots on the SRG1, multi-pattern zones on the Moradness, a rubber coating with padding on the Sparco. L-Grip covers the full palm instead. If you move your hands around the rim — hand-over-hand in rally, or shifting grip on a GT wheel — there is no zone to find.

Eight sizes. 2XS to 3XL is the broadest range in this field, ahead of F33L's seven. Most brands run S to XL, which leaves the smallest and largest hands choosing between too tight and too loose. See size and fit.

Motorsport background. FREEM builds race suits and FIA-rated gloves; the SIM21 is the sim derivative. That does not make it a better sim glove on its own, but the brand has measured hands and fabrics for a long time.

The data gap

FREEM publishes weight, sizes and price, but not seam position, back fabric, cuff design or care instructions; the palm description and touch zones above come from a third-party test.

Seam position is the gap that matters most, because it decides whether a stitched ridge sits between your palm and the rim. GCOM, Moradness, Syncmesh, F33L and SRS all state theirs.
