The basics

Are sim racing gloves worth it?

For damp hands, a direct drive wheel, a leather or Alcantara rim, or sessions over an hour, yes. For short stints on a belt-driven wheel with a rubber rim and dry hands, they change little. More

Do sim racing gloves make you faster?

There is no published evidence that they do. What they change is consistency: a predictable grip as your palms get damp, and less palm fatigue on a high-torque wheel.

Why do sim racers wear gloves at all?

Three reasons that hold up: grip stays the same as hands get damp, the rim does not absorb skin oil and salt, and the palms take less load on a strong wheel.

Where can I buy sim racing gloves?

Direct from the makers in most cases. Of the twelve models tracked here, GCOM, F33L, Moradness, Syncmesh, Trak Racer, GT Omega and LVRY sell through their own stores; Syncmesh ships from Denmark to the EU and UK, and SRS sells through SimRaceShop. Each spec sheet links the source we read.

What gloves do professional sim racers use?

There is no published survey. Brand sponsorship decides much of what you see on streams, so it is a weak guide to which glove suits your hands.

Can I use cycling or work gloves instead?

You can, but they are built for padding and abrasion rather than feel. Work gloves weigh around 80 g per pair; the sim gloves in this database start at 31 g.

Do sim racing gloves protect in a crash?

No. None of the models here carries fire certification or impact protection. These are grip and comfort products.

Weight and feel

Which sim racing glove is the lightest?

The GCOM SRG1 short at 31 g per pair (1.1 oz), followed by the FREEM SIM21 at 32 g and the VIRAGE PB1 at 38 g. Full table

How light is light enough?

Below roughly 40 g per pair, a glove stops registering as a layer between palm and rim. Three models are under that line.

Do gloves reduce the feel through the wheel?

A thick or padded glove does. A 31 g pair is about the weight of two sheets of paper per hand.

Why do so few brands publish a weight?

Seven of the twelve models in the database state none. Several describe their gloves as lightweight without giving a figure.

How do I stop blisters on my hands?

Blisters come from skin shearing against the rim, usually at the base of the fingers. A glove removes the direct skin-to-rim contact. A glove that is too loose makes it worse, because the fabric moves instead of your hand.

Fit and sizing

How do I measure my hand for sim racing gloves?

Wrap a soft tape around the widest part of your hand just below the knuckles, thumb excluded, and read the circumference in inches or centimetres. Some brands also want hand length from the wrist crease to the middle fingertip. Charts

Should sim racing gloves be tight?

Yes. Flat against the palm, no slack, no empty fingertips — but no pressure line across the knuckles.

I am between two sizes. Up or down?

It depends on the brand. GCOM says take the smaller size; Moradness says size up because its fabric stretches less.

Which brand has the widest size range?

FREEM, with eight sizes from 2XS to 3XL. F33L follows with seven, XXS to XXL.

Do sim racing gloves stretch over time?

They relax slightly with use and do not return to their original fit. Buy for a snug fit on day one.

Choosing a glove

Which sim racing glove is best overall?

On published specifications, the GCOM SRG1 short: 31 g per pair, fully external double seams, a strap-free cuff and printed silicone grip on an AX leather palm, at €69. Comparison

Which is cheapest?

The GT Omega PRESA at £24.95, though it was sold out in all sizes on 7 October 2026. Trak Racer follows at €35.

Short cuff or long cuff?

Short keeps clear of a formula-style rim and weighs less; long covers the wrist and suits GT rims and cold rooms. More

Which gloves work with a touchscreen?

Alpinestars covers the thumb, index finger and middle finger. Moradness, Sparco, FREEM, Trak Racer and SRS cover the index finger and thumb. Syncmesh and LVRY cover the index finger.

Which glove suits a strong direct drive wheel?

Syncmesh is the only brand publishing a torque rating: up to 16 Nm at 8–15 hours per week. F33L states its glove suits all force feedback levels.

Are expensive gloves better?

Not reliably. The LVRY SIM GLOVE at US$150 publishes less technical detail than the SRG1 at €69 or the Trak Racer at €35.

Which gloves work with a Fanatec wheel?

All of them — glove choice does not depend on the wheelbase brand. What matters is torque: Syncmesh rates its Grip M2X to 16 Nm, which covers Fanatec, Simucube and Moza bases in common use.

Which glove material is best?

No single one. A thin synthetic leather with printed grip gives the most feel, mesh the most airflow, a rubber-coated microfibre the most grip when damp. Alcantara is a rim material, not a glove material. More

Comfort and care

My hands sweat. Which glove helps?

On published construction, the Moradness Aura Pro for its perforated mesh palm, or the SRG1 for the least material overall. More

Do gloves make sweaty hands worse?

A thick, closed glove can. A thin, ventilated one usually improves things, because the fabric absorbs moisture that would otherwise sit between skin and rim.

How do I wash sim racing gloves?

Follow the care instructions for your model. GCOM permits lukewarm hand washing with mild detergent or a gentle machine cycle up to 30 °C without spinning; air dry and avoid tumble drying and bleach. Moradness permits a cold delicate machine cycle; Syncmesh forbids machine washing. If care information is missing, check the label or ask the manufacturer before washing. More

How often should I wash them?

No manufacturer publishes a frequency. Wash when the palm starts feeling slick rather than on a schedule.

How long do sim racing gloves last?

No manufacturer publishes a service life. Syncmesh is the only brand to state an expected workload — 8 to 15 hours of racing per week. Grip surfaces wear and printed silicone lifts if the palm is scrubbed.

Can I use fabric softener?

No. It coats the fibres and reduces grip.

Will gloves protect my wheel rim?

They keep skin oil and salt off it, which is what darkens and polishes a leather or Alcantara surface over time.

About the data

Where do these figures come from?

Manufacturer product pages first; retailer listings and third-party tests are labelled as such. Every value carries the date it was read. Method

What does "no data" mean?

The manufacturer does not publish that value. It is not an estimate.

Why are there no overall scores?

The comparisons sort by published properties and group by use case, so you can see which property drove a result.

What do the technical terms mean?

External seams, reverse stitching, Nanofront®, Nm and the rest are defined in the glossary.

GCOM care source: manufacturer support.
